Associate Director of Media
About this role
Our Associate Director(s) of Media are the primary account interface with clients. They interact with both the day-to-day client partners with minimal oversight needed from the Director or Sr. Director of Media. We’re looking for someone with the confidence to help build rapport and long-term relationships, anticipate client needs, demonstrate and reinforce ongoing Arm Candy value and bring critical thinking/problem-solving skills to the table.

Our Associate Director of Media Management are highly-capable media professionals, with well-crafted skills looking to expand their capabilities. They are expert media planners, able to discuss both Traditional (television, radio, OOH, print, etc.) and Digital (programmatic, social, search, etc.) channels and the rationales for and against, why they belong, or do not, in a plan.
Not only are they skilled media planners, but they also enjoy managing and collaborating with their team. The Associate Director of Media Management will be responsible for all aspects of getting a campaign live and the steps needed to be taken to ensure plans are signed off on, creative is received, and the ad operations team is fully set up for success.
In addition, it could be said an Associate Director of Media Management’s most admirable trait is their ability to instill confidence in their clients. They act as the primary account interface with assigned agency-clients. Thus, they are gifted communicators, extremely reliable and are always prepared for the questions they may encounter as part of the on-going troubleshooting process that is daily client management.
The role is based in Dallas, TX within a hybrid work schedule (at least 3 days in office a week after 90 days). However, we encourage this role to be in the office more as needed to lead their team. Travel is required as needed for client meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Proven success managing multiple clients in the day to day of planning and execution of strategies and campaigns
- Develop media plans that are expected to succeed client goals and sell them into client partners across multiple platforms and media channels
- Decipher true client needs and help lead them to success and educate direct reports to improve these client skills
- Strong at articulating thoughts and ideas for or against the initial ask and delivering strategic guidance to clients and partners.
- Excel at manipulating large data sets in excel and or Google Sheets to support your ideas
- Management and oversight of creative trafficking across all media channels and platforms
- Oversee the project management of the deployment of pixels, tags and other mechanisms needed to attribute proper (sales, revenue, leads, etc.) performance metrics
- Collaborate seamlessly with agency-clients on creative needs for strong performance and provide creative direction to continually enhance campaigns from historical insights gained.
- Lead and mentor both internal team members and agency-client teams.
- Provide high-end monitoring and reporting of media activity and monitor KPIs (ROAS, CPA, etc.) leveraging your team to ensure client optimism toward performance.
- Management of client billing schedules, invoicing, actualizations and reconciliations.
- Oversee and provide higher level thinking on the why and what next for clients in campaign recaps and case studies to client and agency partners that are developed by direct reports.
- Manage team of direct reports and oversee their performance/deliverables.
- Basic understanding of P&L to hold team and client accountable.
Requirements
- 8+ years of media experience
- Strong client-facing skills and experience (problem solving, cultivating rapport, etc.)
- Previous experience and knowledge within the programmatic ecosystem (DSP/SSP’s, CDP, DMP, ad-networks, etc.)
- Experience managing sizable media plans containing multiple channels – at an average of $3M-$5M in media spend
- Understanding of all forms of media, both digital and traditional.
- Fantastic presenter with strong storytelling skills
- Excellent in project management skills and other team management techniques
- Efficient workflow understanding
- Strong experience and knowledge in media math, understanding fee and commission based models
- Proficient in Excel
- Strong relationship building with ability to work effectively with internal team members, external clients and other agency partners.
- 3+ years of management experience
