Children's Health
From Emergency Brand to Everyday Healthcare System
Arm Candy transformed Children’s Health from a brand families associated with emergencies into an everyday healthcare choice, using hyperlocal media, smarter data, and a unified measurement system to drive consideration where North Texas was growing fastest. The result: 11% YoY growth in patient conversions, traffic 18% above goal, and unaided awareness exceeding target.

Children’s Health is a leading pediatric health system providing comprehensive care for children across North Texas, from primary and urgent care to highly specialized hospital services. Its network includes major medical campuses, specialty centers and clinics throughout the region.
CREATIVE AOR
Plot Twist Creativity is a Dallas advertising agency specializing in brand strategy, creative campaigns, storytelling, and media planning.
The Challenge
As one of the nation’s leading pediatric health systems expanded across North Texas, the organization faced a new challenge: transforming decades of trust in moments of crisis into everyday consideration among growing families. Children’s Health had earned a reputation as one of the country’s premier pediatric hospitals. Parents overwhelmingly associated the brand with exceptional emergency and specialty care, but that strength created an unintended barrier. Families often reserved Children’s Health for life’s biggest moments while turning elsewhere for routine care, urgent visits, sports injuries, and primary care.
At the same time, the healthcare system was growing rapidly. New locations, acquisitions, and expanding service lines required a more sophisticated approach to reaching families across an increasingly diverse and competitive North Texas market.
The Strategy
Arm Candy and creative partner Plot Twist Creative reframed the challenge to focus on balancing brand awareness and consideration growth. The goal became making the organization relevant earlier in the decision-making process, when families were choosing providers for routine care, urgent visits, and ongoing pediatric needs.
The team then worked to uncover hyperlocal insights and data signals that could inform a more precise media strategy. Instead of treating the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex as a uniform market, Arm Candy analyzed population growth, insurance composition, and household migration patterns to understand where prospective families were concentrating. This revealed growing demand in fast-growing communities across Collin, Denton, and Tarrant counties, which were becoming more important to the system’s long-term growth.
The Execution
To operationalize this strategy, Arm Candy built a media investment and measurement system designed to function at neighborhood scale while supporting enterprise-level complexity.
For the system’s 12 primary care locations, Arm Candy implemented hyper-local radius-based targeting to concentrate media investment within realistic service areas. This ensured that spend was focused on the neighborhoods where pediatric decisions were actually being made, rather than dispersing investment across the broader metroplex. Within those local service areas, messaging was adapted to reflect community context. Working closely with Plot Twist Creativity, Arm Candy replaced standardized creative with neighborhood-specific narratives, ensuring that each market saw messaging that reflected its local identity and healthcare needs. This shifted the brand from a centralized health system presence to a more locally relevant care partner across multiple communities.
To support this localized precision at scale, Arm Candy re-architected the legacy programmatic targeting approach with more direct platform relationships and higher-quality healthcare data integrations. This reduced operational friction, improved transparency, and increased control over optimization decisions.
As the system scaled, Arm Candy also built and implemented a unified performance infrastructure to support decision-making across five business units. Executed in close collaboration with the internal IT team, a proprietary tagging system and automated reporting pipelines consolidated fragmented datasets into a single measurement source, providing consistent visibility into performance across the organization and enabling faster, more informed decision-making.
